Issue 38: Scent
This month we’re doing something a little different: we welcome you to the first of four issues in which we’re publishing small collections of ekphrastic prose poetry. In each case, a single person is both poet and artist.
We’ll present a new collection each Monday this month, but for now, let’s lean in to the sensory with four pieces that combine words and image….
- TANGERINE by Kristina Erny
- All Valentines Are Crazy by Edward Michael Supranowicz
- Glangel by Shannon Wallace
- Pomegranate by Kelly Houle
Huge thanks to Shannon Wallace who appears in this first issue; her blending of poetry and imagery inspired our first ekphrastic submission call. We were so overwhelmed by the response that instead of just one ekphrastic issue, we decided to dedicate the whole month to the form.
Our next ekphrastic submission call for publication in March 2027 is open now. Details can be found here.
Pomegranate (oil on linen, 6×6 inches) is part of the ekphrastic piece, Pomegranate by Kelly Houle.
