Bible School, Revisited
by Leonora Simonovis
After all these years, all I can think of is God can be whimsical: some men get to be kings while a woman, years later, is made a mother without her consent. But her son will be king one day, the angel said. He didn’t tell her about the punishments, the cross, the pain of losing a child, the fact she would be remembered, not for who she was but for her usefulness.
